Rice Pidi Kozhukattai

Steamed rice dumplings


Ingredients - Serves 4
  • Idli rava - 1 1/2 cups
  • Green chillis - 2 nos
  • Red chillis - 2 nos
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dhal - 1 tsp
  • Bengal gram dhal - 2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
Method
  • Heat the pan with oil and add mustard seeds
  • When it pops add urad dhal, bengal gram dhal, green chillis, red chillis and curry leaves
  • Fry till golden brown and add 3 cups of water
  • Add grated coconut and salt
  • Allow the water to boil and add idli rava and mix without any lumps
  • Cook until it gets thicker (like upma)
  • Grease the idli plate and make the upma into balls
  • Place the kozhukattai in the greased plate and steam it for 8 to 10 minutes
  • Serve hot with any chutney

    • Rice is the good source of complex carbohydrates which gives us energy
    • Per serving = 65 calories approximately
